We create fully furnished, trauma-informed homes for survivors who have been rehoused in unfurnished accommodation after escaping domestic abuse, who do not have the financial means to start again. Providing a trauma-informed, fully furnished and equipped home supports survivors’ mental and physical wellbeing, reduces poverty and increases their safety.
Social housing tenancies come unfurnished, often even without flooring or window coverings, white goods or even painted walls. The lack of statutory resettlement support with housing and furnishings can be a significant barrier to escaping domestic abuse, whilst the poor state of unfurnished accommodation increases risk to survivors who sometimes feel they have no option but to return due to the lack of support.
We partner with the interiors industry, which donates new or ‘as new’ furniture and accessories that could otherwise have ended up in landfill and we create complete homes that ensure survivors and their children feel safe and supported at a critical moment in their journey.
We offer tiers of support from bespoke full home furnishing and decoration services for survivors offered unfurnished secure social housing tenancies that don’t even come with flooring, window coverings or appliances, to packages that include essential items such as beds, bedding and white goods for survivors and their children who are in emergency or temporary accommodation.
All our staff are trained in trauma-informed practice and we combine frontline skills and experience with interior design expertise, using trauma-informed and biophilic design principles to create beautiful, high-quality, transformative homes for women and children to rebuild their lives from in dignity.
